class="releaseDateline">Baltimore, MD and Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 08, 2011

NexCore Group LP, a top-ranked national healthcare real estate developer, has broken ground on an 80,000 square foot medical office building (MOB) on the campus of Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. The ground break is NexCore’s third of 2011.

NexCore is developing the $24 million MOB in collaboration with Saint Agnes Hospital — a 298-bed, full-service teaching hospital with residency programs in medical and surgical specialties. Saint Agnes is a member of Ascension Health, the largest non-profit healthcare organization in the country.

The new MOB is part of the hospital’s $200 million master plan to enhance and expand its campus. The campus revitalization will create 550,000 square feet of new facilities and patient-friendly, integrated environments that better serve the hospital’s growing patient base. Major progress on the revitalization plan has been completed over the past three years, including the campus centerpiece, a new 200,000 square foot patient tower with 120 private rooms.

The four-story MOB will be connected to the hospital on multiple levels and will have its own patient-dedicated surface parking. The facility will house independent and hospital-employed physician groups as well as growing hospital programs such as the Cancer Institute and Cardiovascular Institute. The Cancer Institute at Saint Agnes was recently awarded the highest accreditation possible for a cancer program from the Commission on Cancer, an accreditation level that has been bestowed on only 14 percent of the nation’s hospitals.

“We are excited about the new medical office building, which is our first on-campus medical office development in over 20 years,” says Bonnie Phipps, President & CEO of Saint Agnes. “We view the new facility as an integral part of our campus revitalization. It will provide our patients and medical staff with a modern, conveniently located ambulatory care center and will also allow our Cancer Institute to expand its capacity by 40 percent.”

“We’ve definitely had our challenges on this project, and NexCore has responded with flexibility and creativity every step of the way,” says Ms. Phipps. “For example, NexCore was willing to redesign the MOB late in the pre-development process to help us attract more physicians to our campus. We value a developer that puts the hospital’s strategic objectives first.”

“We are proud to develop and own this important building,” says Jarrod Daddis, Executive Managing Director at NexCore. “The new building will provide space for state-of the-art outpatient services in oncology, cardiology, thoracic, urology, pulmonology and hepatology and will provide growth for more providers. It is exciting to be a part of the history and future of healthcare at Saint Agnes Hospital.”

NexCore Group is providing a full spectrum of healthcare real estate services for the MOB project, including strategic planning, development, financing, leasing and management.

About NexCore Group LP

NexCore Group delivers comprehensive healthcare real estate solutions for hospitals, healthcare systems, and physician partners across the United States. Recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the Top 20 Healthcare Real Estate Developers since spinning off from its predecessor company in 2004, NexCore has become one of the nation’s most active and respected healthcare developers. NexCore has grown its operating platform, expanded with regional offices, and increased its portfolio of developed, acquired, and managed projects to include nearly 5.2 million square feet of facilities, with nearly 1.8 million square feet currently under management. class="releaseDateline">Alton, IL (PRWEB) September 21, 2011

Simmons Browder Gianaris Angelides & Barnerd LLC is currently investigating claims that Actos, a drug manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceuticals to treat type 2 diabetes, can increase the risk of developing bladder cancer.

Actos, FDA approved in 1999, is a drug that contains the active ingredient pioglitazone hydrochloride, a type of thiazolidinedione or glitazone. The drug works to reduce blood glucose levels by increasing the sensitivity of the liver, fat and muscle cells to insulin, a hormone that is produced by the pancreas which is either underprovided or absent in diabetes patients.

On June 15, 2011, the FDAinformed the public through a drug safety communication that “use of the diabetes medication Actos (pioglitazone) for more than one year may be associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer.”

This FDA information is based on a review of data from a planned five-year interim analysis of an ongoing ten-year study. A similar study conducted in France has already led to the suspension of Actos in both France and Germany.

In addition to the increased risk of bladder cancer, FDA drug and safety warnings also indicate that other Actos side effects can include an increased risk of: congestive heart failure (CHF), rare but serious liver problems, and bone fractures.

“While the safety warnings on Actos will be updated, that is still too late for the many people who’ve taken Actos to treat type 2 diabetes and were unaware of its long-term effects,” said Trent Miracle, Simmons Firm Partner who is leading the investigation.

If you are currently taking Actos, discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. Do not stop taking any medication until you have discussed this information with your health care provider.

The Actos lawyers at the Simmons Law Firm are currently investigating claims against Actos. class="releaseDateline">Kingsvile, TX (PRWEB) August 01, 2011

Active CC Boxes LLC, U.S. maker of five-day temperature-assured and eco-friendly cold chain containers for safely shipping pharmaceuticals and biologics worldwide, announces a corporate name change to Intelligent Thermal Solutions, LLC, effective immediately.

The new name is supported by a new logo and corporate identity that better reflects the company’s products and reputation, and a rebranding of its products to articulate client benefits.

In addition, a new corporate leadership team selected to implement new market and business development strategies includes:
President and Chief Executive Officer Richard C. Ellinger, formerly a Chicago-based cold chain consultant and principal at Temperature Assurance Group, and former Global Director of Marketing and Business Development at ThermoSafe Brands. Mr. Ellinger is an expert in healthcare cold chain issues, regulations and compliance, specializing in strategic business development. He holds an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, and is an Executive Advisory Board member and trainer for IQ Pharma’s International Healthcare Conferences. He has also served as a board member for the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers. Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer John V.W. Howe, formerly Active CC Boxes CEO. Mr. Howe is an authority on the physics of cold chain container design, and U.S. patent- holder. He authors a blog on Cold Chain issues in the pharma and biotech industries, at http://coldchain.cc/ Account Executive Steven R. Kaplan, who was previously a sales executive at Tegrant Diversified Brands. He began his career with Polyfoam Packers Corporation, becoming General Managing Partner.

Aligned with the corporate name change, products formerly known as the Kodiak ATA R36, D36 and R11 containers are now branded as EcoTherm™ R36, D36 and R11. Each container uses the patented IntelliTherm™ technology for precise temperature maintenance over a five-day shipping period, the best in the industry. Using EcoTherm™ containers, pharmaceutical and biologics clients can ship for less cost worldwide with assurance of product efficacy in highly-variable ambient conditions, and the satisfaction that the containers are environmentally-friendly with no disposal or recycling necessary.

“The EcoTherm™ brand name reflects both the environmentally-friendly nature of our containers, and their outstanding ability to hold specific temperature requirements through extended durations,” explained Mr. Ellinger. “Our customers want a greener solution than the current consumable insulated containers in the market today. They also want extended hold time and increased payload. EcoTherm™ containers satisfy all of these important customer needs.”

The science behind EcoTherm™ containers is based on vacuum-insulated panels, an IntellTherm™ temperature regulator, and a Thermal Shield™ , unique in the industry, to ensure the integrity of temperature-critical payloads shipped globally. The container minimizes temperature stratification and maximizes payload volume. Rugged EcoTherm™ containers are reusable for years, so do not contribute profusely to landfills like typical corrugated boxes with polystyrene or urethane insulation.

Intelligent Thermal Solutions’ products are:
The R36, the flagship of the EcoTherm line, with a 36-liter payload capacity – more than four times the volume of typical disposable cold chain containers for their size. A patented thermal regulating lid controls the temperature of the payload between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius for more than five days with no power or ice. An optional freeze rack accelerates the freeze time of the R36 lid to under 24 hours, through the use of forced-air convection. The D36, for customers who ship frozen materials. The D36 is a unique dry ice container with super insulation and reduced dry ice needs. The D36 will maintain temperatures below minus 50 degrees Celsius for up to 5 days, based on the amount of dry ice in the unit, with 36 cubic liters for dry ice and cargo. The R11, an 11-liter container which uses the IntelliTherm™ patented technology to maintain 2 – 8 degrees Celsius for more than five days. Its single-handle carry design makes the container excellent for clinical trials, organ transport and smaller shipments. FiberFlow packing material, an excellent cushioning product that enables free-flow of air within the cargo area. FiberFlow can be easily customized for specific products packed into an EcoTherm container.

In addition to purchasing programs, ITS offers customers a convenient rental program at less cost than purchasing competitive passive systems. The receiver of the shipment simply returns the rented containers to depots in New Jersey and Mainz, Germany. New containers arrive on-demand at the customer’s location, fully prepared for loading and shipping. Long term leasing programs are also available for the EcoTherm™ units.

For more information about Intelligent Thermal Solutions products, call 1+ (888) 465-6342, or visit http://www.intelligentthermalsolutions.com.

About Intelligent Thermal Solutions <br

This is the first in a series a patents the Company has filed or will be filing on their ground breaking ProPep Nerve Monitoring System.

The ProPep Nerve Monitoring System is the first, real-time nerve identification system specifically designed for use during robotic surgery. Fast, accurate and easy to use, the System aids a surgeon in identifying otherwise invisible nerves during minimally invasive robotic pelvic surgery.

“Currently, surgeons rely on anatomic landmarks to identify these nerves during surgery. Unfortunately, these landmarks are not always reliable,” according to Dr. Randy Fagin, Chief Medical Officer. “By helping the surgeon identify these nerves in real-time during the surgical procedure, the ProPep Nerve Monitoring System allows the surgeon to make a more informed decision about which tissue to selectively preserve or remove during an operation and as a result, potentially reduce the incidence of nerve damage related side effects such as incontinence and sexual dysfunction following prostatectomy surgery.”

“We are very excited about the issuance of the Company’s first patent,” stated Jim Schneider, Chief Operating Officer. “It is an important milestone for the Company and is the foundation upon which ProPep is building its Nerve Monitoring System intellectual property estate. We look forward to continued success in the development and commercialization of our technology, and to ultimately providing robotic surgeons the same nerve monitoring capabilities that have been Standard of Care in multiple open surgical procedures for decades.”

About ProPep Surgical, LLC
Established in 2010, ProPep Surgical is a privately-held, Austin-based medical device company developing a system of products (ProPep Nerve Monitoring System) to aid robotic surgeons in identifying otherwise invisible nerves during minimally invasive robotic surgery. Real time identification of these nerves will allow the surgeons to make a more informed decision about which tissue to selectively preserve or remove during prostatectomies, hysterectomies and colorectal surgery and as a result, potentially reduce the common side effects typically attributed to inadvertent nerve damage during these robotic surgical procedures.

Medical Office Building Deals and New Development Might be on the Rise

Cancer

MINNEAPOLIS (PRWEB) July 29, 2011

The level of healthcare real estate sales transaction and development activity seems to be increasing, if the most recent edition of Healthcare Real Estate Insights is any indication. Eleven medical office building (MOB) sales transactions, a dozen new outpatient developments and 10 inpatient projects are detailed in the current edition of HREI, a national healthcare real estate publication based in Minneapolis.

Some of the major deals include:
? American Realty Capital Healthcare Trust Inc., a non-traded real estate investment trust (REIT), plans to acquire medical properties totaling 765,038 square feet at multiple locations for a price of $257.5 million.
? Healthcare Trust of America Inc., another non-traded REIT, announced that it has entered a purchase agreement to acquire the Desert Ridge Medical Campus in Phoenix for $32.75 million.
? Grubb & Ellis Healthcare REIT II has closed on the $7.2 million acquisition of a 41,000 square foot MOB on the campus of Doctors Hospital in Sarasota, Fla.

Some new MOB and other outpatient developments described in the current edition of HREI include:
? A group of physicians in the western Philadelphia suburb of Bryn Mawr, Pa., recently broke ground for the $32 million, 141,000 square foot Bryn Mawr Medical Arts Pavilion.
? White Plains, N.Y.-based private equity firm Seavest Inc. and developer Trammell Crow Co. broke ground in recent weeks on a $13.6 million, two-story, 62,454 square foot MOB in Warwick, R.I., on the campus of Kent Hospital, about 15 miles from Providence.
? Indianapolis-based Duke Realty recently started construction of an 87,000 outpatient facility on the Raleigh, N.C., campus of WakeMed Health & Hospitals.
? Denver-based NexCore Group recently started development on an $18 million, 60,000 square foot medical office building (MOB) on the campus of Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.

A sampling of the inpatient projects detailed in the current edition of HREI involve RegionalCare Hospital Partners in Alabama, Sisters of Mercy Health Care in Missouri, Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu, and Lowell (Mass.) General Hospital, to name just a few.

“A few dozen projects are not definitive proof of a sustained market recovery, but the recent flurry of activity certainly suggests that healthcare real estate development and investment might be gaining strength,” says John B. Mugford, Editor of HREI.

“We certainly observed a slowdown in healthcare real estate activity from mid-2008 through most of 2010, and recent MOB sales volume has been inconsistent,” Mr. Mugford acknowledges. “But the healthcare real estate niche outperformed most other commercial real estate sectors during the recession, and the recent volume of activity seems to be accelerating.

“In addition to the transactions and projects mentioned in our current edition, we are already working on numerous articles about other new deals and developments that will be published in upcoming editions of Healthcare Real Estate Insights.”

About Healthcare Real Estate Insights

Launched in January 2003, Healthcare Real Estate Insights has come to be recognized as the most trusted independent source of news and trend information in the healthcare real estate development, financing and investment sector.
